A gastric balloon is an inflatable medical device. A gastric balloon is inserted into the stomach endoscopically without surgery and without stitches, and then the operation is performed by inflating it.
The balloon is inflated with a liquid dyed with methylene blue compatible with body fluids through endoscopic apparatus.
The application takes an average of 15-20 minutes. The aim of the operation is not to reduce the volume of the stomach, but to facilitate early satiety and diet adaptation by creating a full and indigestible area in the stomach.
The duration of the gastric balloon’s stay in the body is determined by the physician and when it expires, the balloon is removed by endoscopy.
