Gastric Botox is performed by endoscopically injecting botulinum toxin into certain areas of the stomach.
The aim of the operation is to delay gastric emptying by slowing down stomach movements to a certain extent and to provide a feeling of satiety by reducing the secretion of the hormone ghrelin, which we call the hunger hormone.
The duration of effect is between 4-6 months and the patient is expected to change his/her eating habits during this period.
